Vinous Neal Martin - 22 Nov 22
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru does not seem as clean on the nose as it should be, slightly volatile with some animally, bretty elements that fester in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sour cherry and orange rind on the entry. Modest depth, fine acidity, but quite simple and it has a lactic, chocolaty finish that is off-putting. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
